DERBY DAY AND GOLDEN EAGLE PREVIEW AND TIPS

 

Welcome to our first blog post, better late than never.

In the following blog we will cover all the big races for Saturday, Preview and tips and hopefully plenty of success!

Big day at Flemington with my favourite of the year, Derby Day, joined in Sydney by the Golden Eagle it is sure to be a feast of great racing.

Flemington

Race 1

Good little race to start the program, Regal Award destroying the field at Caulfield last time out, Vinrock a proven performer at Group level and Panova and Call Da Vinci bringing some interstate form, West of Swindon looks to go forward without too much pressure and could prove hard to catch, I'm sticking with the proven performer here in Vinrock though classy lad and very attractive at the $4.6

Race 2

Found this one of the tougher races of the day to get involved in, not a hell of a lot of speed here so the favourite Sheza Alibi looks to get a lovely run from Barrier 3 with Live likely stalking the favourite wherever she goes, Stardom showed its toughness at The Valley last week and the quick backup speaks to the fact of how well she is going at present, unsure where Teine Aulelei ends up in the run but with any luck also has a show, going with Live in this one, gets a lovely run and with some more improvement and a better chance to run on i think the $8.5 is a great EW bet here

Race 3

Caballus brings some nice Sydney form here as well as a nice 2nd up record, He has been well found in Betting as soon as markets opened and looks hard to beat here, Star Patrol has been tracking along nicely and loves Flemington he looks to be heading towards a peak here soon and looks a danger, Really respect last start runs from Hedged and Geegees Mistruth both running 2nd to nice horses and could go one better here, Bosustow comes back from Sydney where he was very competitive and isnt without his chance. 

Settling on Star Patrol here another great EW bet on offer at the $6.5

Race 4

Getta Good Feeling very short here and deservedly so, looking to find a bit more value and think we have found it in Prestige Snitzel, improving nicely as it rises in trip and was eye catching for mine last week and is the best value here, Respect Andrew Gluyas bringing one over with Freedom Flame the team doesnt typically travel for fun so is right in this, Ethereum Girl brings strong form and the rise in distance a big tick for her, another for places and exotics.

Race 5

King Zephyr enters another race as favourite, while he's a talented galloper i have some trouble trusting him, he can gallop but i always find him a bit short in betting, Zou Sensation meets him again no worse off at the weights and both map to get similar runs to last time, happy to be with Zou Sensation in this one, there is no reason he can't win again and odds of $6 make him a great EW bet here again as i continue to shop for value.

I don't mind Payline as an outside chance also with Warnie also being competitive lately without winning.

Race 6

This is where I start to trust a favourite a bit more, Beiwacht in my opinion is just the superior animal with the superior form, plenty of chance to fill the placings but at $3.6 at time of publishing I'm making him my best bet for the day. Tentyris and Beadman clear frontrunners to fill the placings and an array of chances for 4th, But Beiwacht wins this.

Race 7

The big one! The Derby, Another favourite I can trust here, Observer was arrogant last week, he has more up his sleeve and as much as I love value he just wins, Providence ran on well and looks a big improver up to the 2500m and Autumn Mystery has been fantastic this spring, but can't go past Observer and am keen to Multi up a race to race double here - Beiwacht into Observer which should fetch around the $6-$7.

Race 8

Match Race here, Does Fangirl run Pride of Jenni down in this one? The Flemington straight is very long and Flemington isn't Jenni's favourite so I'm leaning toward Fangirl as the class runner, beat Lindermann 2 back which is pretty hot form at the moment, Lazzura a great place bet along with Idle Flyer who brings good Sydney form, a good race this one but it is a race in two. Fangirl to win.

Race 9

A bit of pace in this one,I like the map of Soft Love, looks to end up back off the fence with decent speed up front, Generosity the class runner but looks to end up in a tricky spot going back on the fence in a big field, She's Bulletproof looks to stalk the leading bunch and won well last start while Stretan Angel also maps well with this speed, Leaning Soft Love here but with low confidence, big field with decent speed makes this a bit of a raffle as far as luck in running and how fast they actually do go.

Randwick R8 Golden Eagle

Autumn Glow is an obvious star and $2.25 is pretty good betting for a horse of her calibre, we know how good she is and is very hard to take on here. Linebacker is also a star who looks to be in great form at the moment, he will be thereabouts off his recent form and trials, Panja Tower is the interesting runner, Japan have some talent and we see some strong horses from Japan when they travel here, hard to go against Autumn Glow but ill be having a saver on Panja tower, Autumn Glow to win with a small saver on Panja Tower.
